PWC Survey T&L 2030: Transport and Logistics in a low-carbon world – CO2 as constraining factor
May 2010. A recent Study of the consultant PWC showed that a sustainable positioning in the transport and logistics sector cannot be ignored. Therewith PWC joins a series of recent studies, which point out one of the main credos of the DFGE: the growing importance of CO2 as critical key figure. Who starts today with the tracking of the carbon footprint takes the right steps. Not only regulation but also consumer demands will drive the declaration and in future also the integration in emission trading schemes. Therefore cost and emissions are key constraining factors. But the experts indicate unanimous that this is not only a cost factor but first and foremost a great business opportunity. One of the first steps will be tracking emissions during the logistic process, especially for consumer goods. With the e3 Emission calculator for logistics from DFGE this process can be integrated easily, validated and securely. Companies with significant documented expertise will be rewarded since they will achieve higher sustainable ratings through finance, media and their customers.
