By means of DFGE\u2019s TopDown approach, the emissions of the baseline scenario (prior to the implementation of the pilot scheme) could be compared to the emissions afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>All calculations were executed in accordance with the principles of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the DIN 16258 norm (regulating greenhouse gas\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dfge.de\/en\/logistics-carbon-footprint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">emissions in transport and logistics<\/a>). Besides total reductions, the respective shares of the contributing measures (change of container type, intelligent collection system) were quantified as well in order to enable GreenCycle to compare these measures in a cost benefit analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The results show that the implemented measures led to a total emission reduction of about 60%. Both individual measures contributed with about equal shares to this development.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The analysis of DFGE enables GreenCycle to prioritize these measures and expand the pilot scheme to additional Lidl or Kaufland stores. Besides a detailed report comprising assumptions and methods of the calculations, GreenCycle also was provided with a short report for the external communication, in which the reductions are officially certified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eDFGE\u2019s expertise helped us to review our emission reductions in a very short timeframe. The results will help us in assessing the reduction measures properly and in allocating our resources accordingly.
