In accordance with the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, but also in close consultation with Peter Greven, methodical specifications for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dfge.de\/en\/produkt-carbon-footprint\/\">Product Carbon Footprints<\/a>\u00a0were then made, for example with regard to balance sheet limits and allocation method.<\/p>\n<p>The considered products, two metal soaps, are used in a large number of industrial processes. Therefore, the \u201ccradle-to-gate\u201d approach has been chosen: here, all emissions from raw material production, transport and production are included in the calculation but not the emissions arising from the use of the product or its disposal[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Especially the calculation of raw material production emissions was challenging as the use of natural products such as animal and vegetable fats requires a large number of methodological specifications. In the case of vegetable fats, for example, emissions of land use changes are included in the calculation as well.<\/p>\n<p>DFGE uses its TopDown approach, which allows a reliable emissions balance for direct and indirect emissions despite of relatively low costs.
