From the 2nd of April 2019, invited companies can open the DJSI CSA. To be eligible to the DJSI, a sustainable stock index, organizations need to fill the CSA – Corporate Sustainability Assessment from the company RobecoSAM. Read the key features of the questionnaire as well as the next steps and find out quick links to further useful resources.
The DJSI CSA: the best way to be selected in the DJSI
If you want to make it to the DJSI World, you need to be part of the top 10% of the 2,500 largest companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index (source RobecoSAM). To maximize your chances of being selected, you should answer the CSA.
Such DJSI CSA questionnaire covers more than 60 industries, over 3 dimensions: Economic, Environment and Social, with questions and criteria weighted by industry. The contents are around policies, governance mechanisms, actions and processes, KPIs, with a maximum score for each question is 100. Then, the various answer options within a question are scored individually or in combination, with the total sum resulting in a maximum of 100 points.
Once the results are submitted, they are analysed and rated by the company RobecoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing. Companies who do not take part on the CSA are also rated based on their public information. For example, in 2018, 3,504 companies were invited, 2,094 were analysed, with 993 based on the CSA and 1,101 based exclusively on public information (source: DJSI 2018 Review). It is then key to fill in the CSA.
Based on such results, and on financial data, the indices are composed.

DJSI CSA: get the most of resources
It can be hard to be confronted with a large and exhaustive questionnaire – you will want to prioritize the data collection process. In this sense, you have a large array of resources at the ready:
- CSA Companion, to read a detailed description of the contents of the questionnaire
- 2019 Weights, to help you prioritize
- Methodology and Score changes review, to dig deeper into dedicated methodology points
- List of invited companies, to see if your company was invited
- The CSA resources center, to find out more resources
Another solution is to benefit from external expertise. You can check our solutions here. We would prioritize the gaps, take over the data collection in a timely and organized manner and complete the questionnaire in your stead. With DFGE Sustainability Intelligene, we reuse data from other standards, to minimize the impact from your side. We look forward to hearing from you and we wish the best of luck for this DJSI CSA!
