Is your website ready for the new EmpCo guidelines?
Effective September 27, 2026, new requirements apply to environmental and sustainability claims made to consumers.
Claims such as “sustainable,” “environmentally friendly,” or “climate-neutral,” as well as sustainability seals, future commitments, and statements regarding durability and repairability, may be affected.
With the free EmpCo Quick Check, you’ll receive an initial assessment of where on your website we should take a closer look.
What to expect:
We review your publicly accessible website for relevant environmental, climate, and sustainability claims. In doing so, we consider not only individual terms but also the context and presentation of the claims.
Among other things, we review:
- Environmental, climate, and sustainability claims
- Statements such as “climate-neutral” or “CO₂-neutral”
- Sustainability seals and proprietary labels
- Climate targets and other future commitments
- Statements regarding durability, repairability, and software updates
- References, evidence, and supporting documentation for the respective statements
- Presentations and statements that may convey a more far-reaching environmental impact
What You’ll Receive:
You’ll receive a concise assessment that includes:
- identified relevant statements and sources
- an assessment of the need for review or action
- indications of missing or not immediately apparent evidence
- specific recommendations on which content you should examine more closely or adjust
- a prioritized overview of the most important points.
