Munich/Kempen, January 23, 2023
Many companies will face the challenge of a “sustainability report” from 2024 at the latest. It will then be mandatory for companies with 500 or more employees or annual sales of more than €40 million. In 2025, it will even be mandatory for companies with 250 or more employees. This is the background to the new partnership between DFGE and MINT, which enables CSR data collection and preparation from a single source.
While reports in the sense of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) primarily need facts and data, the visual and textual preparation is just as indispensable for stakeholders to understand them. In addition, the sustainability report offers an opportunity to present an image of the company and its values to the outside world.
Perfect Match
With the agency MINT, a professional in B2B communication for over 40 years, and DFGE, founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the Technical University of Munich and an expert in carbon footprint calculations and participation in CSR ratings, two specialists have joined forces that complement each other perfectly.
“In MINT, we have found a partner who not only thinks in pretty pictures, but also understands the topic and knows what is important in communication for companies,” says Wolfgang Berger, Vice President Business Development at DFGE. After all, in addition to valid data collection and calculation for their CSRD report, companies also need assistance in preparing the facts for different target groups – both graphically and in terms of the message. And especially in the B2B sector, companies often do not have a service provider on hand for this.
Here, the cooperation of communications agency and CSR experts is a logical and sensible step that minimizes the efforts of the companies concerned and enables a kind of all-round support up to the finished report.
Concentrated Know-how
“With DFGE, we can rely on more than 20 years of expertise,” emphasizes Philippe Hohnke, Managing Director of MINT. The two partners have already served their first customers together and have recognized the strengths of this approach.
One of them is avoiding greenwashing – a trap that is easy to fall into. It is therefore essential that data and activities in the area of sustainability are recorded thoroughly and carefully and are used and validated for calculations just as thoroughly. Finally, in the sustainability report itself, it is important to prepare and implement these data and calculations, and to do so with reason rather than implausible advertising language.
“The processes are well interlinked – from consulting and data collection to design and texts. Regular meetings and the direct link between MINT and DFGE prevent misunderstandings. The many years of experience also make a positive impact and lead to a well-rounded result,” confirms Alisa Herzing, Product Compliance Engineer and Project Manager Sustainability Report at WIKA Group, a specialist in measurement technology and one of the first customers of the new expert duo.
The dynamic collaboration, which skillfully combines two worlds, creates synergies and learnings for all parties, from which customers as well as DFGE and MINT can only benefit in the long run.
