Munich, Freiburg, May 13, 2024 | Many companies have been facing the challenges of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) since the beginning of the year. This expands the group of companies in Europe that are required to report and obliges companies to report selected environmental, social and governance (ESG) KPIs following an initial double materiality analysis. One of the cornerstones of the analysis is the company’s greenhouse gas emissions balance sheet, also known as CCF / Corporate Carbon Footprint.
This is the background to the new partnership between DFGE – Institute for Energy, Ecology and Economy GmbH and ENIT, Energy IT Systems GmbH, which enables the software-supported calculation of the corporate carbon footprint (CCF) through to compliance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards and a CSRD strategy from a single source.
Perfect complement of strategy, software and implementation
Both companies, DFGE – Institute for Energy, Ecology and Economy GmbH and Enit Energy IT Systems GmbH, have their roots in science. DFGE, founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the Technical University of Munich, and ENIT, with its origins in the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), are two specialists who complement each other perfectly. While ENIT focuses on software-supported CO2 and energy management, DFGE adds expertise in the areas of carbon accounting and energy management.
“Every software implementation benefits from a solid strategy in advance and technical expertise during the support phase. We are delighted to be able to support ENIT here,” states Wolfgang Berger, Vice President Business Development at DFGE. “In ENIT, we have found a partner that offers a software solution that demonstrates its many years of experience in the industry and that understands how such projects can be implemented effectively in SMEs.”
The collaboration between ENIT as a software service provider and DFGE as a CSR expert is a logical and sensible step that minimizes the workload for the companies concerned and enables a kind of all-round support until the latest CSRD requirements are met.
Concentrated know-how in sustainability
“At DFGE, we can rely on more than 25 years of expertise in all aspects of sustainability. By supporting the DFGE teams, our customers benefit not only from our software, but also from a strategy that guides all efforts to achieve climate goals,” emphasizes Pascal Benoit, Managing Director of ENIT. “We very much welcome this new strategic partnership and are delighted to have such an experienced partner at our side to support our customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in improving their performance.”
The two partners have already served their first customers together and recognized the strengths of this approach. The seamless cooperation between the teams, which skillfully unites two worlds, creates synergies and learnings for all parties, from which both customers and DFGE and ENIT can benefit in the implementation of the CSRD guidelines.
