In October 2021, DFGE had the pleasure to support MANN+HUMMEL on their sustainability journey with a solution to reach a high EcoVadis score. MANN+HUMMEL wanted to improve the EcoVadis scoring. In this context, the company chose DFGE and its expertise to benefit from its professional offering.

Challenge
Identification of improvement possibilities in EcoVadis
Before working with DFGE, MANN+HUMMEL had a bronze medal with a score of 55/100 by EcoVadis. In the first step, the challenge was to identify the areas of improvement from the previous scoring.
The main focus has been on a comprehensive explanation of EcoVadis processes and the parallel participation and familiarization of the responsible MANN+HUMMEL function.
Solution
Gap-Analysis, Workshop and Action Plan
DFGE identified the recent improvement areas for MANN+HUMMEL to implement through an in-depth gap analysis and a presentation of the results in a dedicated workshop, in which the full sustainability team of the company participated. The workshop offered the opportunity to present current developments of EcoVadis in terms of methodology and explain the weighting principles. The latest improvement areas were discussed in detail and decided upon. With an intensified focus on assigning adequate evidence, based on existing results/reports,
procedures or instructions, for the measure category, MANN+HUMMEL would improve their EcoVadis scoring. First steps towards an improved reporting strategy, has helped to exceed the project goals by reaching a score of 68/100 and a gold medal. The company is among the top 6% of companies rated by EcoVadis in the category of manufacturers of parts and accessories for the automotive industry. This is a remarkable achievement for a large company with complex structures.
Result
Ensuring successful EcoVadis participation and improving EcoVadis score
As a result, MANN+HUMMEL has created an optimal starting position to gradually improve its sustainability activities with targeted measures. Overall, the project process and results are a success from DFGE’s point of view, as actual improvements were made. Some opportunities for improvement remain, as the goal of this time was simply to collect the full amount of existing data. We congratulate MANN+HUMMEL on their efforts on improving their performance to EcoVadis and taking the sustainability journey further. DFGE is happy to support them in all their future endeavors!
