CDP, a leader in environment reporting, has just released the CDP Scoring Methodology 2018 and CDP Guidance! You can now use it to prepare your answer to the questionnaire.
Scoring methodology and guidance support companies regarding their CDP’s response
Mid of last week, CDP has released the CDP scoring methodology 2018 and the CDP guidance regarding the new questionnaires for their programs CDP Climate Change, CDP Water and CDP Forests. The online versions can be accessed here, PDF versions can also be created and exported via that page.
The CDP guidance enables companies to gain more detailed information about each (general) question and gives additional support for CDP participants.
The CDP scoring methodology 2018[1] provides a score which assesses progress towards environmental stewardship as reported by a company’s CDP response. The CDP scoring methodology 2018 document gains insight into how CDP scores its participants and shows where are high scored questions, i. e. where are focus areas. The basic scoring structure is the same for each question (disclosure, awareness, management and leadership scoring criteria). We strongly recommend you read such documents to understand where the priorities lie.
Short reminder: what has changed from 2017 to 2018 CDP (climate change) questionnaire?
- Integration of sector specific questions (e. g. Oil & gas, Chemicals, Steel, Transport OEMs). Sectors which aren’t included only have to response to the general CDP questionnaire 2018
- Inclusion of TCFD recommendations (e. g. how climate change risks and opportunities influence the financial planning)
- Scenario analysis and how it is integrated into climate change strategy
More information about the changes is available on our blog (from 21st Dec. 2017). You can now check the importance of such new items in the Scoring Methodology and how to properly answer them thanks to the CDP Guidance.
Next steps regarding the CDP season 2018
CDP recommends to read the CDP scoring methodology 2018 and CDP guidance documents in conjunction with the CDP scoring introduction 2018, which will be available in mid-April (see CDP webpage). The CDP Scoring introduction is a short document summing up the main principles behind the Scoring Methodology.
Responses can be given from end of April, as the CDP ORS (Online Response System) will open then.
Please note, that the CDP deadlines have been extended in 2018. While participants in the CDP Investor Program have to submit their responses (latest) on July 31, 2018, organizations of CDP’s Supply Chain Program have half a month more time (CDP deadline 2018 ends on August 15, 2018). This is valid for CDP Climate Change, CDP Water and CDP Forests (see blog post from the 13th Feb. 2018 and CDP webpage).
