The S&P Global questionnaires for CSA 2022 will open on April 5, 2022 (DJSI) and May 5, 2022 (ESG Indices).
Due to the growing interest of stakeholders in sustainability and climate change, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to make their sustainability efforts transparent. In addition to sustainability reports with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics, questionnaires from third-party providers such as CDP and S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) can also be helpful.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a non-profit organization that helps public and corporate users report on their opportunities and risks related to climate change, water security, and deforestation.
The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is an assessment of corporate sustainability practices. Every year, S&P Global invites companies from various industries to complete the CSA questionnaire. Subsequently, the answers are evaluated by S&P and integrated into the reweighting of the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Indices). The CSA is intended for companies that want to establish a sustainability baseline as well as gain independent insight into their sustainability efforts compared to other companies.
S&P Global has established a timeline for the CSA 2022. A distinction is made between companies that are not eligible for inclusion in one or more DJSI or S&P ESG indices and those that are accepted into an index. Starting with the companies that are eligible for index inclusion.
This year, S&P Global is expanding the list of invited companies to over 11,000. The expanded list of invited companies is made up of companies eligible for Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) or the S&P ESG Index Series. In addition, companies of interest to the broader investor community are invited. The list of invited companies can be viewed here.

The CSA 2022 is also open to companies that are not eligible for inclusion in one or more DJSI or S&P ESG indices. To this end, S&P Global invites all companies that have already participated in the CSA or have already been assessed in previous years, regardless of their participation in an ESG index. From April 2022, companies whose sustainability efforts are of interest to a broader investment community will also be invited.
